This 24-hour course is based on the 2020 edition of Mike Holt’s
Illustrated Guide to Understanding NEC Requirements for Solar Photovoltaic Systems textbook which contains hundreds of full-color illustrations to help the student see the safety requirements of the National Electrical Code in practical use, as they apply to today’s electrical installations. This course is available in an interactive online format that allows students to test their knowledge immediately by answering page level questions. Students must pass with an average of 75% or better in order to receive credit.
The
Understanding NEC Requirements for Solar Photovoltaic Systems Home Study Course addresses possible conflicts or confusing NEC requirements, contains tips on proper electrical installations, and warnings of dangers related to improper electrical installations. Mike can’t eliminate confusing, conflicting, or controversial Code requirements, but he puts them into sharper focus to help the student understand their intended purposes. In addition to covering Article 690 of the 2020 NEC, Mike covers the installation of electric power production sources operating in parallel with a primary source(s) of electricity. The student will learn how to cross reference the Code requirements to understand how they relate to one another.
Topics covered in this course are based on the requirements in the 2020 Edition of the National Electric Code (NEC), a copy of which is required when taking this course. You may utilize one of the suggested resources in the textbook list located in the forms and resources section of the WECA website or any other sources to order the NEC.
