One idea with WECA Industry Partner Krogh & Decker, plus more options in each community served by a WECA training facility

We're getting into the spirit of the holiday season here at WECA, and we're excited to share that our Industry Partner Krogh & Decker, LLP is too! They're co-sponsoring the 25th Annual Contractors Caring for Kids toy drive along with the Sacramento Regional Builders Exchange (SRBX).

If you're a WECA Member Contractor in the Sacramento area, click here to learn more about how you can contribute to the toy drive. SRBX has the following stipulations for donations:
  • Gifts must be new and unwrapped.
  • The charities that SRBX has partnered with has specific donation requests for teens of all genders for the following gift cards: Walmart, Target, Amazon, Big 5 Sporting Goods, Michael's, Jo-Ann's Fabrics, In-N-Out, Popeyes, Pizza Hut, Chipotle, and Pinkberry.
  • Requests for all genders from the ages of 0-18 include: games, books, crafts/craft projects, bikes, art kits/art supplies, sports equipment (specifically soccer and basketball), outdoor equipment, supplies for STEM projects, NERF toys, Disney toys, Legos, Barbie toys, and LOL dolls.
However, if you're a WECA Member Contractor from outside the Sacramento area, you can still contribute! Alyssa Pedrizzetti, Events and Programs Coordinator at the SRBX Foundation, says that WECA Member Contractors from outside of the Sacramento area can contribute to the toy drive by making virtual donations through the SRBX website, and the SRBX Foundation will purchase toys for donation in the donating contractors' name. If you have any further questions, please contact Alyssa Pedrizzetti at apedrizzetti@srbx.org or at (916) 465-8350.

But that's not at all. There are so many ways to give back this holiday season--including virtually or in your local community!

Organize your own virtual food drive with Feeding America

According to Feeding America, "A virtual food drive is a great option if you cannot collect donations in person or are unable to deliver donations to your local food bank. Instead of collecting food, a virtual food drive allows you to collect funds online for your local food bank or the Feeding America network."

Additionally, Feeding America states that "Many food banks prefer virtual food drives over traditional food drives. Food banks can often purchase food for much lower than what you would pay at a grocery store. Also, sorting and inspecting donating food items can take a lot of time and resources, so a virtual food drive helps food banks put those resources to other uses."
