No Quarantine for Fully Vaccinated Workers Exposed to COVID

On May 3, the California Department of Public Health (CDPH) updated its guidance regarding fully vaccinated people to align with the latest CDC guidance.

Fully vaccinated workers who have had an exposure at work (within 6’ of a positive case for more than 15 minutes cumulatively in a 24-hour period while contagious) do not need to quarantine if asymptomatic. The Public Health Order and Cal/OSHA require that fully vaccinated employees follow the Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS) for face covering and employers require the testing requirements as written in the plan.

On May 20, the Occupational Safety and Health Standards Board will vote on revised COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standards, which are expected to be published this Friday.  Local health departments are quickly revising their orders to become consistent with the CDPH and CDC, but employers are encouraged to consult their local requirements until the ETS is revised to become more consistent with the changes.

AGC and the remainder of the coalition, including WECA, involved with The Construction Industry COVID-19 Safety Plan will monitor the draft revisions and report as soon as they become available to the public and will reflect the updates as soon as they are effective, which we anticipate by the end of the month.
