Wendy and Diane Represent WECA at 2022 SRBX/CIEF Women in Construction Fall Conference in Sacramento

Wendy Flanagan, Assistant Director of Apprenticeship, and Diane Trotter, Workforce Development Supervisor, attended the 2022 SRBX/CIEF Women in Construction Fall Conference in Sacramento on Oct. 27.

According to the SRBX website, SRBX Women in Construction is a council that helps to educate, connect, develop, inspire, and advance women in the construction industry as they build meaningful careers. The council also celebrates women as a visible component of the construction industry and seeks to encourage California lawmakers at all levels to adopt policies that will successfully increase women in apprenticeship programs.

Diane says, "We both attended some great breakout sessions. Mine were 'How to Create a Culture that Invites Diversity' and we both went to a fabulous one on 'Overcoming Unconscious Bias in Recruiting and Retention.' There was also a great panel called Lived Experiences, where we got to hear from women that have been successful in their careers in construction."

Thank you, Wendy and Diane, for representing WECA and women in construction at the conference!
