Classes fill quickly and space is available on a first come, first served basis, so be sure to sign up early to get the class of your choice.
Sign-ups after 10/2/2023 are approved based on the availability of seats in the class and are subject to the Late Tuition Fee.

Classes are subject to cancellation if minimum enrollment requirements are not reached.

The date WECA receives the completed Class Sign-Up with the required payment(s) will be the date the fee(s) will be effective.
Payment is due at time of sign-up, and can be paid via cash, money order, check, Visa or MasterCard. Make checks payable to WECA. There is an additional $25 charge for all returned checks.
  • Refunds will be approved or declined as stated in the current policy.

GET WIRED! 401 Introduction to Basic Motor Controls

Recommended Prerequisite for Electrician Trainees: GET WIRED! 100 & 200 Series, 301 & 302 Strongly Advised

 For those with little or no experience with motor controls, this online course gives a solid foundation in:
  • Motor controls and schematics
  • Reversing controls
  • Controls for multiple motors
  • Disconnecting means for motors and controllers
  • Winding connections
  • Control and signaling circuits


This course takes place entirely online. There are no lab days for this course. Get Wired! 401 is excellent preparation for Basic Motor Controls Parts 1 and 2, where students apply what they’ve learned in Get Wired! 401 to hands-on motor control labs.

2020 NEC book is required. WECA will provide each student with Mike Holt’s Illustrated Guide to Understanding Basic Motor Controls textbook. The Mike Holt’s textbook is included in the course tuition. WECA can not split the textbook and tuition costs.
