For Apprentices and their Member Contractors

For California apprentices:

  • WECA resumed in-person Apprenticeship classes at all training facilities for classes with start dates beginning on or after June 21st, 2021.
  • Class schedules will not change.
  • WECA's in-person apprenticeship classes will be physically distanced. (WECA preemptively reduced apprenticeship class sizes on this year’s schedule in preparation for a return to in-person instruction, to facilitate this.)
  • Class welcome packets will be sent out with at least 45 days' notice.
  • Per the State of California, through at least February 15, 2022, everyone will be required to wear masks indoors at a WECA facility. WECA additionally requires that everyone complete a daily health questionnaire prior to entering the building. (This will also apply to any visitors to our training facilities.)
  • WECA continues to monitor CDC and State Guidelines and will update safety protocols as appropriate.
  • All communications from WECA are digital or phone-based at this time; we are not sending physical letters.

● California Certification Testing: As of May 1, 2020, PSI has reopened several of its testing sites across California for limited testing. Keep in mind as you schedule your exam appointment that available windows may be limited, so if you're ready to take the exam, don't delay in securing your appointment. In addition, the State of California confirms that it is actively processing certification applications.

For Arizona apprentices:

  • Please review your enrollment communications for class scheduling details.

For Electrician Trainees, Journeyman Continuing Education and General Students, and their Contractors

Please review the information below for changes to upcoming onsite lab scheduling and in-person classroom courses, in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The good news for Trainees and Journeyperson continuing education students enrolled in our programs is that most of our class delivery has always been online. Online classes will continue to be delivered as scheduled with no interruption, including all evening GetWired classes. Onsite lab days are being delivered as scheduled at this time.

All communications from WECA are digital or phone-based at this time; we are not sending physical letters.

For those students enrolled in a GetWired class with a lab date in 2022:

  •  At this time, WECA is delivering onsite GetWired labs in person on a regular basis. In the event that your lab must be shifted online, WECA will give you as much notice as possible.
  • Per the State of California, through at least February 15, 2022, everyone will be required to wear masks indoors at a WECA facility. WECA additionally requires that everyone complete a daily health questionnaire prior to entering the building. (This will also apply to any visitors to our training facilities.)

For those students interested in Classroom-based Two Day Exam Prep, these classes have been cancelled until further notice. However, our Live Online Two Day Exam Prep class is available for enrollment! It's the same curriculum; just delivered in an online classroom instead.

  • WECA is not running the classroom-based Two Day Exam Prep class instances until further notice.
  • WECA's Live Online Two Day Exam Prep is now available on a monthly basis. Scheduled over two subsequent Saturdays, a live instructor leads students through our popular Two Day Exam Prep course experience over Zoom in this 16 hour class.
  • You may prefer to take an upcoming GetWired 404 Exam Prep instance. GetWired 404 is also entirely online and instructor-led, but delves even more deeply into preparation for the State certification exam over 42 hours.
  • You may also prefer to study on your own time and pace, online, with our 24 Hour Self-Paced General/Residential Exam Prep course.

For those students interested in Basic Motor Controls:.

  • WECA has resumed safely-distanced, in-person instances (in Rancho Cordova and San Diego) of Basic Motor Controls Part 1and 2. Please check our course catalog for enrollment options.
