Residential Battery Energy Storage Systems (16 hour course)

Recommended Prerequisites: This course is suitable for journeyworkers and advanced electrician trainees. Prerequisites include suggested completion of the GetWired 100 and 200 series courses or equivalent experience.

This course will be part of WECA's Comprehensive BESS: Commercial and Residential Energy Storage Systems (32 hour) course (coming soon!), which will also become an elective in the WECA Electrician Trainee Certificate Path. Students who anticipate taking the 32 hour Comprehensive BESS Package may prefer to wait for that offering.

This self-paced intermediate residential electrical course will help you comprehensively understand a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), including installation and commissioning. While there are many Energy Storage Systems (ESS), this course will focus on rechargeable batteries, specifically Lithium-Ion.

Learning Objectives for this course:

You will be able to identify the required equipment for a residential BESS.
You will be able to explain National Electrical Code requirements applicable to a BESS.
You will simulate a residential BESS's correct equipment layout and conduit sizing requirements.
You will be able to identify safety procedures and required steps applicable to installing and commissioning a BESS.

All course hours must be completed within 90 days of purchase to receive credit. You will not be notified when your self-paced course is about to expire, and it is your responsibility to keep track of your course expiration/due date. The course tuition is not refundable or transferable.

A 2020 NEC book is required for this course.
