Many WECA graduates discovered their passion for electrical and low voltage work while working in other fields. The same is also true for Florin Vizauer, the WECA Southern California Low Voltage Apprenticeship Class of 2026 Salutatorian. 

Florin, an employee of WECA Member Contractor AMS.net, became interested in working in the electrical field while doing installation work for DirectTV 15 years ago. 

“That made me explore the low voltage possibilities,” said Florin. 

While at WECA, Florin enjoyed working on jobsites and connecting with people, but found technical details and vocabulary to be challenging. Nonetheless, he persevered. 

“WECA was a lot of fun overall,” said Florin. “I was able to connect with new people. I have learned a lot of information from our teachers, information that you cannot find that easily. We had some pretty cool lab classes also. And the most interesting jobsite was the Downey project, where I was able to experience working with fiber cables.” 

Florin credited his success at WECA to his wife and coworkers.  

“I want to thank my wife, who sacrificed a lot of her time while I was away working. On the jobsite, I want to thank Jose Peres, who is a good friend and a great lead and keeps teaching me new stuff, and Steve Perez, my superintendent, who is a great guy,” said Florin. 

Someday, Florin wants to work his way up to a leadership position with AMS.net and eventually open his own low voltage electrical contracting business.
