WECA Spotlight: Ernesto Gonzalez, Electrician Trainee Salutatorian, Class of 2026

With hard work, perseverance, and the support of his family and employer, Ernesto Gonzalez has reached an important milestone in his electrical career.

When Ernesto Gonzalez began his journey at WECA, things didn’t come easily. But, as he progressed through each course, he gained the knowledge and confidence he needed to continue moving forward.

“My experience was a little difficult at first, but little by little, I gained knowledge in each course, which gave me greater confidence and self-assurance.”

That commitment paid off. Ernesto graduated as salutatorian of his class, an accomplishment he credits to dedication and perseverance. Along the way, his training at WECA and hands-on experience with member contractor Zapien Electric Inc. in Ceres, California, helped him grow both professionally and personally.

“My life has changed 100% thanks to the training I received at WECA.”

At WECA, Ernesto learned how to complete projects according to applicable electrical codes. Working in the field gave him the opportunity to put that knowledge to use, helping him become more efficient and safety-conscious on the job, preparing him for the next step in his career.

Now that he has graduated, Ernesto plans to continue his training and work toward obtaining his certification.

For students who are just starting out or working toward graduation, Ernesto encourages them to stay committed, even when things get challenging.

“My advice is that if this is the career you want to pursue, believe in yourself and remember that with dedication and hard work, you can achieve your goals.”

Ernesto recognizes that he didn’t reach this milestone alone. He expressed his gratitude to God and his family for their continued support, as well as to Zapien Electric Inc. for giving him the opportunity to be part of the company.

“I will always be grateful for all their support and the opportunities they have given me.”

Congratulations to Ernesto on becoming a WECA salutatorian! We’re proud to celebrate his achievement and wish him continued success as he builds his future in the electrical industry.
