Building Our Region's Electrical and Low Voltage Workforces: Latest Outreach Effort with the Sacramento Academic and Vocational Academy (SAVA)

WECA loves to perform outreach efforts in our local communities to help foster the next generation of electricians and low voltage technicians in California and Arizona--and our recent visits to the Sacramento Academic and Vocational Academy (SAVA)'s Job Shadow and Workforce Convention events were no different!

Our Workforce Development Supervisor, Diane Trotter, visited SAVA to spread the good news about WECA's Apprenticeship and Electrician Trainee programs. She covered the application requirements for the Apprenticeship program, explained how potential applicants could prepare for WECA's entrance testing (while emphasizing the importance of proficiency in measurements, math and reading) and shared information about the Electrician Trainee program and how interested attendees could start today if they are interested.

But that's not all! Diane also sowed the seeds for a potential educational partnership with SAVA. According to Diane, SAVA plans to add courses to their construction pathway program about the science of energy, energy efficiency, alternative and renewable resources, along with an introduction to safety in electrical construction!

We love that SAVA is invested in piquing their students' interest in energy, renewable resources and careers in the electrical, solar and construction industries! Thank you so much for having us, SAVA--we look forward to a potential educational partnership in the future!
