California Division of Apprenticeship Standards (DAS)' Employer Ambassador Program Recognizes and Amplifies the Voices of California Employers Who Advocate Apprenticeship

The California Division of Apprenticeship Standards is promoting its Employer Ambassador Program, which "recognizes and amplifies the voices of California employers who are advocates of apprenticeship. Our ambassadors serve as an example and mentor to other employers--positioning apprenticeship as the way to build their skilled workforce. Through a nomination process, the program will showcase employers who already demonstrate excellence in apprenticeship."

WECA will be happy to assist California Member Contractors who are interested in self-nominating for the program qualify by providing, upon your request, the required letter of recommendation from "your registered apprenticeship program sponsor confirming your active participation." Please contact Wendy Flanagan or Diane Trotter at WECA for further arrangements.

Requirements for Traditional Champions are:

  • Pay prevailing wage on public works projects and has no history of exemptions or wage violations
  • Have employed at least 20 apprentices
  • Are in good standing with all DIR divisions and CSLB
