Competition already heating up at WECA San Diego

Do you have what it takes to be the best electrician in the nation? Well, now it's your turn to shine!

WECA is pleased to share this announcement, courtesy of WECA Industry Partner IDEAL Industries, Inc:

The 2019 IDEAL National Championship is a highly-charged, no-holds barred competition to determine the best electrician in North America. Get amped to show your skills, test your limits, and compete against some of the best tradesmen and women in the industry. This race-against-the-clock competition is where electricians become legends.

This competition is open to contractor teams, individual professionals, individual students, and student/school teams.

To make it to the Championship Weekend, you have to qualify first. Over a thousand qualifying rounds will take place across North America.
The top Professional and Student/Apprentice from each state/territory, the top five Contractor Challenge (Professional) and School Challenge (Student/Apprentice) teams of 2 from the U.S., and the top Contractor and School Challenge team from Canada will advance to the Championship Weekend. In addition, the top 3 individual competitors from 2018 will be returning for their chance to defend their title.
There will be 14 Wild Card slots available for Professionals and Students/Apprentices respectively. These will be filled the 12 fastest individuals from each U.S. region who do not win their state's bid, and the 2 fastest remaining individuals from Canada.

84 professionals and 84 students/apprentices from the US and Canada will advance to Orlando to compete. They will be joined by 1 professional and 1 student/apprentice each from Australia and China, who will be competing against the best the US and Canada have to offer in the inaugural International Championship at the end of the weekend. While travel, lodging and meals are all provided by IDEAL Electrical, competitors have to bring their own "A" game to get through four rounds of competition. The weekend is fun. The competition is fierce. These tasks are tough.

We here at WECA believe that the IDEAL Nationals are a great opportunity for our member contractors and students to learn from their peers, forge strong relationships, and continually improve upon their skills - which are already some of the best in the industry. Our member contractors can encourage their employees to compete by emphasizing this unique opportunity to gain experience and confidence outside of the classroom and jobsite.

To compete, visit IDEAL National's website to find events near you, learn how to create a team, and register for your chance to become an electrical legend

And stay tuned for announcement of further qualifying rounds held at WECA training facilities across the state. It's always nice to compete on your home turf!

Best of luck to everyone!
