The Legislature passed, and Governor Newsom signed, Assembly Bill (AB) 841, which creates new training and certification requirements for journey-level electricians who perform certain electrical work associated with Electric Vehicle (EV) charging. Sponsored by the IBEW, and opposed by WECA, ABC and some EV industry groups, the bill will require certification by an IBEW-sponsored entity, EVITP.
